Wild Rice Apple Salad Recipe

This Wild Rice Apple Salad Recipe is  a great winter salad. It incorporates many summertime ingredients and is a refreshing break from "winter" foods.

This simple wild rice salad recipe with fresh apple can be a complete meal all by itself.

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (250 ml) wild rice - cooked OR 1/2 & 1/2
  • 1/4 cup (50 ml) onion - diced
  • 1 large apple - diced
  • 1 cup (240 ml)  celery - diced
  • 2/3 cup (150 ml)  cheese - shredded
  • 1/4 cup (50 ml) dried cranberries (craisins)
  • 1/4 cup (50 ml) walnuts - diced (optional)
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) poppyseed dressing.


Wash, dry and dice up the apple. It doesn't really matter which kind of apple you choose.

Wash, dry and dice up the celery

Dice up the onion.

Put the wild rice into a medium sized bowl.

Add the prepared apple, onions and celery to the wild rice.

Add the dried cranberries.

Add the shredded cheese to the wild rice and apple mixture.

Add the Poppyseed dressing and mix well to combine the wild rice with the apple and other ingredients.

Either serve this wild rice salad with apple immediately or cover and refrigerate.
