Tossed Iceberg Salad Recipe

This Tossed Iceberg Salad Recipe is almost a classic. Back in the day when leafy lettuces where uncommon, Iceberg was the only one readily available and there were many recipes developed for Iceberg salads.

This Tossed Iceberg Recipe was common restaurant fare even before the rage for the wedge salad became popular.

Collect the necessary Tossed Iceberg Recipe Ingredients and your tools.

Tossed Iceberg Recipe Ingredients:

  • Iceberg lettuce
  • 1/4 English cucumber
  • 1/2 package grape tomatoes
  • 1/4 red onion



Chop up about 2 slices of Iceberg and divide it equally between 2 salad bowls.


Slice and cut the cucumber into small pieces and add them to each tossed recipe bowl.


Very thinly, slice the red onion and add to the tossed recipe bowls.


If the grape tomatoes are large, I prefer to halve them so they can be easily speared with a fork.

Add the tomatoes to the tossed recipe bowls.

After you have tossed the salad recipe ingredients you can add a dressing of your choice.
