Sweet Potato Smokey Salad

The smokey flavour in this Sweet Potato Smokey Salad comes from the addition of cumin to the salad.

This smokey version of a Sweet Potato Salad goes especially well with any fish dish or BBQ'ed meal.

With only a few simple kitchen ingredients, you can turn an ordinary salad into extraordinary - such as adding the smokey flavour.

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 2 Large sweet potatoes
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) sour cream
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) milk
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) mustard
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) cumin
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) garlic powder
  • 1 small diced red onion
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Prepare the sweet potato for the Smokey salad by following the instructions HERE

While the sweet potato pieces are boiling - dice up the red onion as instructed HERE

Then place them into a medium sized bowl.

When the sweet potato pieces are cooled enough - chop them into bite sized pieces and add them to the bowl.

Add the mustard

Add the mayonnaise and sour cream

Add the garlic powder and cumin - remember the cumin is the smokey flavour.

Add the milk and blend everything well to coat the sweet potato pieces with the smokey dressing.

Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
