This Simple Potato Salad Recipe can be put together pretty quickly.

You can use simple left-over potatoes or cook them the day before, so they are cooled down.

This recipe uses simple common kitchen ingredients.






Assemble all the recipe ingredients for your simple salad and your tools.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 4 medium new potatoes – cooked & sliced
  • 1 small onion - diced
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) diced  green onions
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) vinegar
  • salt & pepper
  • 3 tbsp (45 ml) Mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) sugar



Slice each cooked and cooled potato into a medium sized bowl. This is the basis of the recipe.


Chop the green onions

Add the green onions to the potato slices in the bowl.




Dice up the small onion.

Add the diced onions to the bowl.


Add the vinegar.


Add the mayonnaise, salt & pepper and gently blend everything together.

Taste test and adjust the seasonings. If the potato salad seems a bit too sour - add 1 tsp sugar and remix.

Note: You may need more mayo depending on the type of potato you used for this recipe.
