By learning how to make green leaf lettuce wraps you can vary your lunches. These little bundles are just as quick to make as a sandwich - but are healthier and tastier too. They are also great for snacks and can be prepared as appetizers for a party or family gathering.
Before we can begin to prepare our wraps, the green leaf lettuce must be washed and dried.
Lay out your washed and dried green leaf lettuce leaves.
For wraps - the larger leaves are best.
With a sharp knife, cut about 1 1/2 - 2 " off the bottom of each leaf and discard.
Place about 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of filling in the center of the leaf.
Here I used a tuna salad.
Place your fillings in the other leaves.
For my second wrap I used a bean salad.
Add any garnishes you like.
I added a few strips of green onion to the tuna, but left the bean salad plain.
Now to fold up the wrap.
Bend over the bottom first.
Next fold down the top.
Fold one side over the top.
Fold the other side over the first side.
Secure the wrap with a toothpick.
Fold up the other wrap or wraps the same way and secure.
To make these wraps look a little fancier, you can use the fancy toothpicks
