How to cut Red Leaf Lettuce for salads

You can learn how to cut red leaf lettuce after you have washed it. Washing and drying leaf lettuce properly are important for everyone's health. Then you can proceed with the tutorial below.

Step 1

  1. Stack the washed and dried red leaf lettuce on a clean cutting board.
  2. Have a sharp knife handy to cut the bunch of red leaf with.

Step 2

  1. Slice through the red leaf pile length-wise at least once, maybe twice if the red leaf leaves are exceptionally wide.

Step 3

  1. Turn the cutting board and cut crosswise across the stack of red leaf.
  2. Make the cuts about 3/4 - 1" apart.

Step 4

  1. Continue to make 1' wide cuts all the way to the end of the red leaf stack.

Step 5

  1. Use your hands to "fluff" the cut piles of red leaf leaves.

Step 6

  1. Place the cut red leaf leaves in a bowl. Add some other cut up ingredients and Voila - you have a nice enticing salad.
