How to cut Pineapple
like a Pro.

Before beginning to learn how to cut pineapple like a Pro, you need to know how to choose a good pineapple. An unripe pineapple is sour, whereas a ripe pineapple is sweet.

Here are some tips:

1. Choose one that has green nodules on it with yellow in between.

2. You should be able to easily pull out a leaf from the top.

3. There should be no open areas or soft spots.

Step 1

  1. Lay the pineapple on a cutting board and with a long handled sharp knife cut the top off, about an inch down.

Step 2

  1. Now turn the pineapple around and cut the butt off, about 1/2 inch up.
  2. Discard these end cuts.

Step 3

  1. Stand the pineapple up on the wider (butt) end and cut down the sides, removing the outer skin.

Step 4

  1. Continue shaving the outer shell off, all the way around.
  2. You may need to re-trim some areas to get all the "eyes" out.

Step 5

  1. Using a smaller knife, pare out the remaining eyes along the bottom.

Step 6

  1. To make pineapple slices, lay the pineapple on it's side and slice off a section to your preferred thickness.

Step 7

  1. You will now need to use a small knife to cut out the core.

Step 8

  1. If you want to cube or dice the pineapple, stand it on the wider end.
  2. Cut it in half.

Step 9

  1. Then turn it a quarter turn and cut it again.

Step 10

  1. Grasp one quarter firmly and cut out the core.

Step 11

  1. Lay the quarter down and cut strips length-wise to your preferred thickness.

Step 12

  1. Turn this a quarter turn and cut crosswise to your preferred thickness.

Step 13

  1. You will now have a nice little pile of cubed pineapple from each quarter.
