like a Pro

You will need to know how to cut lemon wedges if you serve seafood salads, a Caesar Salad, or even just for drink garnishes. Here is a simple and easy to follow guide to cut the perfect lemon wedges.

Step 1

  1. Choose a plump lemon so that you will have wider wedges.
  2. Make sure that the lemon is free of blemishes and soft spots.

Step 2

  1. Place your lemon in a colander and wash it to remove any lingering pesticides.
  2. You do not want to contaminate the wedges.

Step 3

  1. Dry the lemon with paper towel and place it on a clean cutting board.
  2. Have a small serrated knife handy to begin to cut the lemon wedges.

Step 4

  1. Remove the store label from the lemon rind. You do not want to cut that up along with the wedges

Step 5

  1. Roll the lemon over the cutting board with a slight pressure from your hand. This helps to release the juices.

Step 6

  1. With your small serrated knife - cut the stem end off the lemon and discard.

Step 7

  1. Stand the lemon on the cut end and cut the lemon in half.

Step 8

  1. Cut all the way down using a sawing motion

Step 9

  1. You should now have two roughly equal lemon halves.

Step 10

  1. With the lemon half wedge laying on its back, carefully cut this wedge in half again, to form lemon quarter wedges.

Step 11

  1. Now hold the lemon quarter wedge carefully and cut it in half.

Step 12

  1. Lay the lemon wedges on their sides and trim the white pith off.
  2. This action also removes most of the seeds.

Step 13

  1. Continue to cut your lemon wedges until you have as many as you need.
  2. Place the remainder of your lemon in a sealed plastic bag and keep refrigerated.

You have now learned how to cut lemon wedges like a Pro. Serve these lemon wedges along side any seafood salad as a garnish.
