How to Cube Watermelon
just like a Pro

How to cube watermelon is a not a formidable task. Watermelon is such a nice treat in the summer time that everyone should learn how to cube it. Besides being sweet and tasty - a watermelon cube is a great way to ingest some of your daily amount of water.

Step 1

  1. Rinse the exterior of the watermelon, before beginning to cube.

Step 2

  1. Dry the exterior with some paper towel so as not to spread any dirty water or contaminants onto the cutting board or onto a watermelon cube.

Step 3

  1. With a long handled sharp knife, cut the watermelon in half.

Step 4

  1. Cut the half in half again to form a quarter.
  2. We will work with one quarter at a time to cube the watermelon.

Step 5

  1. Place one quarter, flat side down on a clean cutting board.
  2. Now you are ready to begin the process to cube the watermelon.

Step 6

  1. Cut off the heel and discard it.
  2. Slice the remainder of the quarter into evenly sized slices.
  3. If you only want slices - you can stop here - if you want to cube the watermelon - read on.

Step 7

  1. Using your small serrated knife, trim around the inside of the rind, try to get most of the white off.
  2. Continue to remove the rind from the other slices.

Step 8

  1. Discard the rind.

Step 9

  1. Trim any white areas left on the watermelon, off, since this is bitter tasting.

Step 10

  1. Now you can layer 2 slices one on top of the other to begin to cube.
  2. Slice lengthwise across these slices.

Step 11

  1. Slice crosswise to cube the watermelon.
  2. You can now use the cubes for your recipes.

You have now learned how to slice and cube watermelon. It is quite simple. Wrap any remaining sections of watermelon in plastic wrap and keep them refrigerated, until you want to cube some more. Enjoy.
