Basic Tossed Salad Recipe

Your Basic Tossed Salad Recipe is very easy to prepare and can be as simple as just 3 ingredients.

The red leaf lettuce provides a chewiness, the tomatoes provide sweetness and the cucumber provides crunchiness.

I choose to top mine off with Greek Tzatziki Dressing.

Assemble all the ingredients and get your cutting board, kitchen knife and a medium sized bowl.

  • Red Leaf Lettuce - 6-8 leaves
  • 1/3 English cucumber
  • 1 pkg cherry or grape tomatoes

Wash, dry and cut up the red leaf. You probably won't need all of it - store the remainder in the frig.

Wash and dry the cherry tomatoes.

Add these to the bowl.

You can also use grape tomatoes or even a large diced tomato for a basic tossed salad.

Next, you will need about 1/3 of an English cucumber or 1/2 of a regular salad cucumber.

Make sure it is washed and dry. Cut it in half lengthwise and then cut thin slices for your basic tossed salad.

Add these to the bowl.

Now your basic tossed salad is complete.

Use your hands or tongs to toss the ingredients.

Serve your basic tossed salad in individual bowls and allow your family or guests to choose their own salad dressing to top it off.
