How to cut sweet pepper quickly and easily for salad use is important to conserve on preparation time. Many salads call for diced or chopped peppers. This guide below is the quickest way I have found for chopped or diced peppers.
Choose a firm Sweet pepper without any blemishes.
Wash it under cold running water.
Dry the sweet pepper with some paper towels.
Using a medium length serrated knife, cut the bottom off the sweet pepper.
Turn your sweet pepper around and cut off the top.
Hold your sweet pepper up, with the bottom end facing you, over a piece of paper towel.
Insert your knife down inside the cavity, all the way to the bottom.
Cut carefully all around the inside and the entire center section of the sweet pepper will fall out - seeds and all.
Here is the center section - discard this.
Lay one of the cut ends flat on the cutting board and begin to slice across it.
Continue to cut until it is all sliced.
Either turn these pieces carefully around or turn your cutting board crossways.
Now cut crosswise across the same end piece to make the dice.
Now you will have a nice little pile of diced sweet pepper.
If this is all you need for your recipe, then wrap the remainder of your sweet pepper in a dry paper towel and seal it in a plastic bag in the refrigerator.
If you need more cut sweet pepper, cut the remaining section in half.
This is what it will look like.
Lay one half on it's back and apply pressure to flatten it.
As you can see, it will crack - don't worry about that.
Holding the pepper down, cut across the length, making thin slices.
Turn the cut slices crosswise and cut across the slices.
You will now have quite a pile of diced sweet pepper.
If this is sufficient, wrap the remaining half in dry paper towel, seal and refrigerate.
If you need more - cut the remaining sweet pepper the same way.
Now you have seen how to cut sweet pepper quickly and easily.
