How to cut Kiwi
An easy solution

For such a little fruit, how to cut kiwi can be exasperating, if you don't know what you are doing. Here are my tips.

Step 1

  1. You will need a sharp, serrated blade, short handled knife, such as a paring knife.

Step 2

  1. To choose your kiwi, be sure they are firm, no soft spots, no mold.

Step 3

  1. Remove the labels and wash them under cold running water.
  2. Rub the fuzzy surface as you wash to be sure all chemical residue is removed.

Step 4

  1. Place your kiwi on some paper towels.

Step 5

  1. Use more paper towels to dry them off.

Step 6

  1. Slice one end off, about 1/8 of an inch in.

Step 7

  1. You will now see the interior with the seeds. These seeds are edible, so don't bother trying to remove them.

Step 8

  1. Now trim off the other end.

Step 9

  1. Carefully holding the kiwi, cut off the outer skin by shaving downward with your knife.
  2. A kiwi has a VERY thin skin, so shave lightly.

Step 10

  1. Once all the skin is removed, lay the kiwi on it's side and cut your slices to your preferred size.

Step 11

  1. Your finished cut kiwi should look like this.

Step 12

  1. Alternatively, if you prefer to eat it with a spoon - you can simply cut the kiwi in half and spoon out the fruit.

Step 13

  1. Besides the green kiwi in the pictures above, a golden kiwi is also available.

Cut kiwi can be used in nearly any fruit recipe but it is very pleasing in festive recipes, such as this Christmas Trifle.
